EXCERPTS FROM THE MINUTES OF THE PLENARY SESSION OF THE DIOCESAN FORUM ON THE DECLARATION OF FAITH AND ARTICLES OF RELIGION FACILITITATED BY THE REV’D DR. ELEUTERIO J. REVOLLIDO ON APRIL 24-25, 2009 AT THE DIOCESAN CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AND NURTURE TRAINING (DCENT) CENTER, PRO-CATHEDRAL OF THE VIRGIN MARY, BULUA, CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY.

RESOLUTION 01-04/24-25/2009/DFAR

RESOLUTION ASKING THE SUPREME COUNCIL OF BISHOPS TO FORMULATE AND PUBLISH AN OFFICIAL COMMENTARY ON THE ARTICLES OF RELIGION THAT IS GROUNDED ON THE NATIONALIST HERITAGE OF THE IGLESIA FILIPINA INDEPENDIENTE.

WHEREAS, on April 24-25, 2009 sixty clergy and lay of the Diocese of Misamis Oriental, Bukdinon and Camiguin came together at the Diocesan Christian Education and Nurture Training (DCENT) Center, Pro-Cathedral of the Virgin Mary, Bulua, Cagayan de Oro city for the diocesan forum on the Declaration of Faith and Articles of Religion (DFAR) of the IFI which was, according to the Rev’d Dr. Revollido, the first of its kind – as a Diocesan Forum;

WHEREAS, the activity was aimed at advancing the reading and understanding of the DFAR with the IFI nationalist heritage in mind. This is in line with the continuing Christian education program of the diocese under the MOBUCA 2012 consistent with the Ten Year Strategic Plan (TYSP) of the IFI;

WHEREAS, while we were glad knowing that our Church is in orthodoxy in the Faith though there times that we were not in the course of history, we also realized that Articles of Religion taught by this Church has lost its nationalist fervor;

WHEREAS, with the help of the Rev’d Dr. Revollido we have also discovered that the lost nationalism has been rekindled starting in the 1970’s with then the young people and young priests and seminarians leading; moreover, we have found the same rekindling in the life and works of the late O.M. Alberto B. Ramento;

WHEREAS, approved statements and actions of the SCB have profoundly articulated the spirituality and religiosity that the memberships of the IFI should live by;

WHEREAS, responding to the necessity of educating our faithful on the basic teachings of the Church, we have decided to introduce commentary on the Articles of Religion but because it is the SCB that has the sole authority in doing such, we can but only await the said magisterium for its action;

WHEREAS, after a thorough deliberation and reflection on the matter and on the motion of Dr. Juanito Gementiza seconded by the Rev’d Fr. Vic Arellano and several others, it was
RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved to ask the Supreme Council of Bishops to formulate and publish an official commentary on the Articles of Religion that is grounded in the nationalist heritage of the IFI.

RESOLVED FURTHER that the MOBUCA clergy will push through with the making of the commentary to be temporarily used only in the diocese for our educational endeavors for adult members.
